today on oprah

today's third (i believe) story on oprah is a story that's really close to me. it's about a friend of mine, suzy. this story was also on the paula zahn now show on cnn a few months ago. i'm glad that it's getting more press because while i stand by freedom of speech, it's obvious that there needs to be repercussions for what happened. i'm not going to elaborate more right now, read the story yourself. i don't need your sympathy, i want things like this not to happen again (and my friend back, but that's not happening).

wow.. I'm glad that her story is being shared with millions(literally) of people. I remember hearing about her "support" people from the internet and wanting to kick some serious ass.. There has to be a way to track them down..

damn, i wish i had known beforehand, i might have watched. on the other hand, maybe not. just reading the summary on the website makes me sad. i guess all the publicity is good, maybe people will be more on the lookout when it comes to their loved ones.. i'm sure if anyone that really cared about suzy, that actually had her in their life, knew even a fraction of what those people on the website knew, she would have gotten help. i'm all for free speech, and even assisted suicide in certain cases, like elderly and sick people who have absolutely no chance of being even remotely comfortable ever again, but for a young depressed girl to be instructed how to end her life and made to feel it was the best option, well that just feels wrong. she had options, and all those people knew about her problems and just encouraged her to take this one path.. it sucks. ok, sorry for the rant. really. i love you!
